Any goals (musically) for next year?
Any goals (musically) for next year?
Seeing as this year is coming to a close I thought I'd ask this...
Could be tunes that you HAVE to buy to finish a label, a genre or just a "want" that you really want?
Could be to play out more or, specifically, at a certain venue, for a certain promoter or you might put a night on and book a certain DJ or two?
Or getting into the studio more? Uploading more mixes online?
Also, in regards to what I asked above, did you do any of that this year in 2015?

Re: Any goals (musically) for next year?
I wanted to get my label up to release 10 this year, only managed to get it up to 8 as my wedding got in the way :) so next year I'd like to try and get it to about #15. Need to write more tracks!
Would be great to DJ more too but I've got no interest in playing at these 45 minute back to back CDJ anthems events, so hopefully a few more underground events spring up again.

Fucking finally will be done with school (which is the equivalent to having 5 jobs at once and at the age of 47 is not fun) so hopefully more time to do mixes, maybe do a internet show, finally start working on making tunes (the DREAM!)? I probably have a better chance of winning the lottery than all three of those things- but I'll take one or two.
Re: Any goals (musically) for next year?
I want to complete my collection of hardcore. Not going to happen though as im not a millionaire.
Failing that I would like to get at least 10 more of my outstanding unknowns id'ed. Had a few pop up recently that had been outstanding for over 5 years so im always hopeful!

Oh I forgot about actual records. That's a good goal to have nebkins and sort of do-able! In that case Tom & Jerry 2 (the only one I need) and the Silver Fox EP would make my year.

Get some decks, to replace the ones I sold in 2004. Record a vinyl mix, for the first time since 1996! Can't wait.

Launch a terrorist attack on a live recording of the X-Factor.... other than that, fuck all

This sounds so familiar! Exactly what I did a year or so ago. While I miss my Technics I sold (and refuse to pay top dollar for crappy beat up used ones)- Audio Technica ATLP120 USB's are perfect affordable Technics clones. I used them to make my last mix and no issues. Just like Technics IMO.MJS57 wrote:Get some decks, to replace the ones I sold in 2004. Record a vinyl mix, for the first time since 1996! Can't wait.
Re: Any goals (musically) for next year?
Yeah, that's one of the questions I am struggling with at the moment. Right now I am leaning towards buying 1 deck at a time, and getting the best 1210 I can for my money each time off ebay (Mk 5's). Even if it takes me a lot longer, I kinda want to do that at the moment.
But then again, I may get all sensible and get the AT 120's brand new for half the price. I've read a ton of reviews about those Audio Technica's, they seem really good. I have a problem with irrational sentimentality right now.

Mate, I haven't recorded a vinyl mix since 2010 (maybe 2009). And I used to do them EVERY DAY from '99 up until then!MJS57 wrote:Get some decks, to replace the ones I sold in 2004. Record a vinyl mix, for the first time since 1996! Can't wait.
I'd like to get back to doing that.

To release a Jungle Techno EP 5 years after having my first ever release on vinyl.
The ball is rolling on this, very excited

Hi,
Some good point made above. I kinda gave up with my wants list years ago, was mainly just obscure Ragga, that went crazy prices, so left it alone.
My main goal, is to find more TIME for dance music, as last few years, each year has been less and less devoted to dance music...

Re: Any goals (musically) for next year?
I'm seriously thinking of either selling all my tapes or more likely all my vinyl
Can't keep buying them both
Think I'd prefer to keep my tapes losing the love of vinyl now hardly ever play them

Hi,
I never play my tapes, in fear they get chewed up by the cassette player...

Get much better at playing the piano.
Get much better at scratching.
Get much better at mixdowns.
In that order.
