Re: Reinforced box Set
Yeah I agree - it's a cool set and reasonable value for money, but unfortunately IMO it leaves out the people who made Reinforced what it is, DJs. The set should at least have come with a couple of 12"s to make everyone happy.

Re: The state of DJ'ing nowadays...
Yep, I have a couple of mates who still make upfront hardcore and they make every track at 175 bpm so that when they DJ, they don't need to change the pitch to mix. One of them does this so he can scratch more, the other because he's lazy :)

Re: The state of DJ'ing nowadays...
but when it goes wrong for them it can go really wrong, and I'll often be left thinking "it's taking far too long for you to sort this out" when a simple platter adjustment could solve the problem in an instant  That's exactly it, if it goes anywhere near a beat out, it takes seconds for pitc...

Re: The state of DJ'ing nowadays...
Oldskool is a pain sometimes because things aren't always paint by numbers or off beat. I know I hate pads with beats at the end of records. Can throw things out of key real quick. For me that is what makes old skool hardcore the best music to mix. You really need to know the tunes. Tracks from 92 ...

Re: User Preferences help
It should be under UCP > Profile > Edit Account Settings. On a phpBB forum I run, the URL is this:
/ucp.php?i=ucp_profile&mode=reg_details
But it doesn't work on here.

Re: The state of DJ'ing nowadays...
I think this is getting a bit out of hand  nobody said pitch chasing is the 'wrong' way to do it, just as I don't believe touching the platter is the wrong way to do it either. There are many techniques, all with their pros and cons. Just as touching the platter/record can affect the sound, you...

Re: The state of DJ'ing nowadays...
There are of course DJs that were very bad at it, but you can do it subtly as Ron mentions without it sounding ridiculous.
There's no real right or wrong answer to how you should mix, there's lots of different techniques and all can be done well or badly.

Re: The state of DJ'ing nowadays...
As per my post above though, he never has it bang on, his hand never leaves the pitch control. It's the mixing equivalent of driving in a zig zag rather than a straight line. Yes he has the skill to keep it in time, but personally I much prefer to know I have 2 tracks 'locked' and can leave them for...

Re: Reinforced box Set
Shit I didn't even notice the slipmats are 7" too! Yeah I think I'll pass to be honest, I have no use for 7" vinyl. I like to DJ with records, not pose with them.

Reinforced box Set
As usual these things only seem to get announced on Facebook these days, so here's a heads up. not 100% sure what's in the box set yet as it hasn't been announced, but it looks like 5 x 7", 4 x tapes, 2 x slipmatts, and some other stuff. On sale here on 25th November: http://www.reinforced25.com rei...

Re: The state of DJ'ing nowadays...
Yeah I've never understood the logic of pitch correction mixing, if the record is too slow and out of time, the only way to make it 'catch up' without touching the record is to make the pitch too fast, so not in time either. I generally notice that DJs who only use the pitch control spend the whole ...
