Re: Any goals (musically) for next year?
Spend the entire 2 hours in the Jesus pose during my set as headline act at a huge event in Ibiza, having just had David Guetta as my warm up DJ. This would be after I had convinced the entire worldwide electronic dance community that we should all return to the sound and vibe of England circa 1991....

The truth is not many people are musically literate (myself included) so what sounds terrible to a finer ear sounds just fine to most people. I think most people can spot a bum note or things that are out of time, but you need some musical theory knowledge to spot the more subtle problems. Agreed. ...

Re: Seeing as the youth of today are...
But it is worth considering that different age ranges and scenes in the 90s would dress pretty differently... Good point, since i made the above post, i've wasted an hour or so looking for 90s inspired current fashions on the web. From what i can make out, it's more of 90's American skater look mix...

Re: Seeing as the youth of today are...
I've heard people say there's a 90's style & fashion revival, but ive not seen it yet. The only thing i've noticed is more bright colours being worn than a few years ago. Other than that the clothes that are in fashion now look nothing like what was being worn in the 90's. The shape and style of clo...

Re: An answer i had from Jack Smooth..
Ron, it' dificult to remember everything that's been asked in this thread, so sorry if i'm repeating a question: 1. Once you had signed for MCA, did things change production wise? Did they ask you to record tracks at their studios? If so, did you bring along your favourite bits of studio kit? 2. Thi...

Re: An answer i had from Jack Smooth..
I have to confess (due to my age) that I am not overly familiar with Kraftwerk and their signature sound so from a fans point of view what album would be a good start for me to delve into the world of Kraftwerk? Thanks I'd also add their Electric Cafe album from 1986, probably one of their more acc...

Re: An answer i had from Jack Smooth..
edit: just to clarify, i'm explicitly talking about US club music scene during 1983, 84 & 85. I think of 85 as the year that techno really started with the release of no ufos. I don't think anyone will ever be able to convince me that Kraftwerk are not the inventors of both electro and techno... Ju...

Re: Hardware
Just checked the photography out, amazing work. Some of it wouldnt be too out of place on the front of a flyer in 92, but it's too good for that!

Re: An answer i had from Jack Smooth..
I am 100% self taught... it was always a case of learning on the job, reading the manuals, reading Sound on Sound (and other music production mags) and loads of practice. After the first few tracks (only had a DJ mixer then) I used eq and effects on each channel (after getting a small but fit for p...

Re: An answer i had from Jack Smooth..
Another question for Jack Smooth.. BITD did you know many tricks of the studio pros when it came to getting the mix right in your productions? i.e. eq'ing each individual track, cleaning & eq'ing breaks, adding compression etc. or were things a bit more rudimentary - was it a case of just adjusting ...

Yeah i've always liked it too, just didnt usually associate those dj's with that kind of tune
On reflection groove was hard to second guess, his sets were full of all styles of hardcore during 90, 91 & 92
